Community Activity

Roofco is committed to contributing to local not-for-profit organizations that support people at the community level. Gary Kopp, President of Roofco has given generously to these organizations over the many years by volunteering his personal time on committees, attending events, and donating financial support. And while his support has been noteworthy, more important is the long terms commitment.  In both case Gary has invested more than 10 years in each organization, working at a variety of levels, helping build the community he works in - everyday.

Via Salzburg Chamber Music Symphony

We have been involved as a Major Sponsor in the Via Salzburg Chamber Music Symphony Fund Raising Golf Tournament since it's inception 3 years ago.  This is consistent with our intention to support both Humanitarian and Cultural programs in our community.

While the bulk of our donations are channeled through Rotary we feel that this particular cause has sufficient merit to deserve a direct sponsorship.  One only needs to see them play once to realize that what they do is indeed a performance art and that their unique abilities need to be cherished and supported for the benefit of the community at large.

Rotary Club of Barrie

Roofco believes in the work of the Rotary Club of Barrie and its role in the community, and Gary Kopp, President of Roofco is committed supporting its many initiatives. He has been involved with Rotary for over 12 years and is currently acting as Treasurer on the Board of Directors.  Gary has extended his support for Rotary Club of Barrie by participating on special committees and by contributing his time to special events throughout the year.

The Rotary Club of Barrie supports many individuals and groups which have included the Royal Victoria Hospital, YMCA, Salvation Army, our many International projects, Polio Plus and through our work with the Rotary Foundation, have contributed to goodwill and life sustaining projects around the world.

Habitat for Humanity Huronia
Gary Kopp believes in giving back to the community and contributes many hours and of his time each month to community activities including Habitat for Humanity Huronia.  Gary has served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors, for Habitat for Humanity Huronia, and has been involved in many events and committees. Gary’s sound financial knowledge and business acumen has made him an invaluable asset to Habitat for Humanity Huronia.

Habitat for Humanity is in the business of building affordable homes for families who may not otherwise be able to afford it. Habitat for Humanity Huronia builds homes in the Barrie and then helps finance the purchase of the Home for a deserving family. The homeowners additionally invest in the home by contributing “sweat equity “during the building of their home. Their monthly mortgage payments then go into a fund that is used to build more homes. The more homes that exist, the more cash flow there is available for further building. This "revolving fund for humanity" fuels exponential growth in the number of houses that are built over time.
